“2 4 6” for Piano explores the range of possibilities with limited resources. The first movement only allots 2 pitches: G-Ab. Throughout each movement, there is an allowance of an additional two pitches. The second movement only allots 4 pitches: BbCb-D-E. No pitch is repeated movement to movement. The third movement only allots 6 pitches: A-C-Db-Eb-F-Gb. By the end of the piece, all 12 pitches in Western music are used. Each movement is approximately 2 minutes, just as 2 pitches are added to each movement.
