“Ink Still Wet” for Symphony Orchestra consists mainly of two characters: bombastic and ethereal. These characters illustrate the paradoxical nature of finitely sharing ideas on a page. Because of this medium of communication, it requires scrupulous oversight with a sense of originality and spontaneity. It is the way the quill dips into the ink that extracts a source of communication. It is the way the quill strokes the page that brings ideas from the abstract to the finite. It is the way the ink seeps through the page that dominates any of the surface’s openness to a fresh start. It is the way one feels about starting again in their quest to bring what is inside out. The ink on the page is just that, the ink on the page. It can be felt, seen, smelt, or even tasted. What one ‘hears’ is entirely up to how the ink is organized.
